Hillcrest Reviews

Rachel
Really cosy cottage for a relaxing post Christmas break. Beautiful coastal walks for a dog walk to blow away the cobwebs.
Highly recommended. Very peaceful location in lovely countryside.
Hilary
Hillcrest is a lovely cottage in a good location for exploring this wonderful area. The cottage is well equiped with everything you might need.
Claire
We had a fantastic week with beautiful weather. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Everything was well stocked with toilet paper, kitchen paper, washing up liquid and handwash. Also a fully equipped kitchen. The host was so friendly, emailing us to wish us an enjoyable holiday. Oxwich, Port Eynon and Rhossili beaches are beautiful and all dog friendly. We loved it so much, we'll definitely be booking again.
Kerrin
The entire cottage was grubby sticky cupboard doors and work surfaces in the kitchen, animal hair all over the downstairs carpets, filthy cupsmugs, bread knife caked with crumbs, dust over all horizontal surfaces. In addition, only 2 tea bags left, 1 cm of washing up liquid, the remains of a kitchen roll, left over toiletries in the bathroom, a broken shower holder causing the shower head to fall on mine. No pillow protectors, but bedding and towels were excellent.
Graham
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hillcrest. We have fantastic weather for a week, exploring the Gower.
Geoffrey
Nice homely cosy cottage as described, with private rear garden area. Ideally located for travelling around the Gower. The owner was very pleasant and provided helpful information prior to our arrival. We were reassured that if any issues arose the owner would have no hesitation in providing kind assistance. We were pleased we had booked this particular accommodation and would definitely return in the future. We would have no hesitation in recommending Hillcrest.
Very nice comfortable cottage. Good location for exploring the Gower. Helpful neighbour on hand to sort out any issues. Our dog was able to jump over the wall so had to be supervised in the garden.
Anthony Paul
We found the property very comfortable and we were able to relax as though we were at home. Everything that we needed was there and the house was spotless. Lovely garden and the property is set in wonderful scenery and is in a good location for exploring the Gower
We've just had a fabulous week in Oxwich. The weather helped us immensely, enabling us to go to Oxwich Bay Beach every day bar one day where we travelled a short way in the car to Port Eynon for a couple of hours. Oxwich Bay lets dogs on the beach all year which is great and stunning beach too! Lovely garden at the property, settees really comfy in the lounge and we found the beds comfy too I slept really well considering it wasn't my own bed. We would love to return.
Alison
Lovely cottage and attentive hosts. Every room was clean and had a warm and cosy feel. Great location to explore the beaches and walks.
Lucilla
We really enjoyed our stay at Hillcrest. It was a lovely location, with walks from the front door onto the coast path. The beds were very comfy and the cottage was well equipped. The patio at the back catches the evening sun, and inside it was very cosy with the log burner. We didn't hear the roof tiles making a noise. The beaches nearby are all dog friendly too. We'd love to stay again as it was perfect for us, our two children and dog.
Beautiful part of wales, very located on a very quiet small road, ideal for anyone whos looking to relax. Really homely feel as soon as you walk in. Loved our holiday!
Rosemary
A delightful ,comfortable cottage in stunning surroundings.
Katrina
The directions to get to the house were clear and straightforward we arrived in the dark so this was pretty crucial! , key collection was easy too, no pressure to arrive by a certain time. The house was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. There was plenty of information around about the various pieces of equipment and how they worked, except for the TV which rather foxed us! We had a twentymonth old with us for part of the time, a stairgate, nightlight and travel cot were very kindly provided for us by the owners thankyou so much. We did a 'reccy' to protect breakables from our active toddler, and hopefully put everything back where it should be, the last halfhour before leaving is always a bit of rush, so apologies if it wasn't quite right! The beach and footpaths are well within walking distance but there are some steep hills! The beach at Oxwich is particularly child friendly as it is flat, with cafes and toilet facilities, also a large carpark. Communication with Sykes and the owners could not have been easier, we didn't have any problems while we there but it was clear that the owners would be available to help. Would happily recommend Hillside to other guests.
A lovely cottage in a stunning location. Some rooms had been updated, which were really good, but others had quite a tired feel to them. The overall cleanliness was a little lacking with dust and very old cobwebs in some areas.
Comfortable and cosy house, in a good location for access to the Gower. Would recommend a stay here. The owner is contactable if there any problems with the property.
Alyson
Lovely warm and cozy cottage. Loved the log fire. Very well equipped and great location for exploring the Gower. Despite the weather being somewhat unpredictable, had a great time.
The cottage is really pretty, a little rustic and very cold when we arrived but warmed up after a few days. It is probably lovely in the summer, but in the winter the lack of proper insulation is a problem. As is the problem with the sound coming from roof tiles lifting in the wind, very noisy and difficult to sleep. The problem is ongoing as other guests have mentioned it.
Fantastic property in the perfect location for exploring south Gower. Oxwich Bay is just 2 minutes away and there is access on to the coast path via a network of footpaths one of which is just outside the front door. The log burner makes for a cosy retreat on an autumn evening.
Steven
Beds need upgrading, possibly consider putting the same quality bed in the different bedrooms. Lovely time otherwise, wonderful peaceful location.
Very cosy end terrace in very tranquil spot with outstanding views to coast sea from all 3 bedrooms & kitchen window. Do not be put off by lack of other reviews as owner Jane has only just started letting property out as holiday home and we were only 2nd visitors week from 21 May 2022 . The property is in an ideal spot for discovering the local beaches & countryside which are within a few minutes walk away or a 10 minute drive gets you to the King Arthur pub restaurant in Reynoldston which serves good food and drink at reasonable prices. We found the property an ideal base to explore this part of Wales which we had not previously been to.
