For Families
The beach is 0.1 miles away and Port Eynon Bay is a popular family beach resort. The Wales Coastal Path starts in the village. For Couples
This is genuinely one of the best couples' cottages on the Gower. Wake up to sea views from the double bedroom, eat by the wood burning stove and cook outside on the pizza oven. The beach is 0.1 miles away. Dark skies at night and total peace make this a proper escape for two.

1 Salt Cottage Reviews

Judith
Salt Cottage is a delightful property in a magnificent position. We know the area very well so there were no difficulties locating the cottage. The premises had been very tastefully setup and decorated, however, as time has past, it appears some parts have not been renewed or kept to the same standard. The kitchen cooking pans are not in a usable condition. We booked for 10 days and had to live out of a suitcase because the wardrobe and draws were packed with additional quilts, pillows and towels. The drains outside the back door were constantly blocked and flooded which caused a foul smell into the utility room. If the above and a few more minor problems were addressed then, Salt Cottage, would deserve a 'perfect' rating as a spot to stay. We love it.

Thoroughly enjoyable break at 1 Salt Cottage! Will definitely be coming back.
Lovely cottage in a beautiful spot. Nicely decorated and furnished. Only negatives and being ultra picky, would be that the lightshades in the bedroom need dusting and the masking tape removed from one after painting had been completed and although we separated our recycling from general rubbish, could not find any bins in the village other than general waste, when leaving the property. Also after the storm winds, the garden fence was already down when we arrived and needs repairing.
Waking up to see the sun rising across the bay was the highlight, as well as being able to walk our dog on the beach every morning. The cottage is cosy, had everything we needed and we loved the fantastic location. The night sky was wonderful too. Coming late in the season meant we had to hunt around for places to eat, but there were enough available within a few miles of the cottage.

Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely cottage in wonderful location. Just what we were looking for. Only minor issues were couldn't get one of the ovens to work and the dishwasher was broken. These were minor issues and overall first class. Many thanks

Wow what a fabulous cottage. The perfect retreat. Lying in bed watching the sun come up, what more could you ask. Parking the car and then navigating the steps with your luggage could be a chore, but a small price to pay for a fabulous retreat.
Very nice cosy cottage in a beautiful location Appears to have been recently ... Very nice cosy cottage in a beautiful location Appears to have been recently refurbished Clean Only point to note is the bed very comfortable but small barely could be called a double for 2 adults a tight fit Otherwise no complaints would defintely return

The location is simply fantastic. We've been coming to Port Eynon for over 40 years, but waking up to the view from the bedroom makes the property into something very special.
Whilst we love this cottage and its location, this is our third stay here and we were surprised to see that the crockery is still all chipped, not much of it, one saucepan! One oven not working and the washing machine broke whilst we were there too. Maintenance is key in running a successful holiday let, please , please address this as we love going here.
Sioned
A perfect location and a lovely light cottage much nicer than I'd expected. As others have commented, some of the crockery is badly chipped and needs replacing. Rain came in through the bottom right of the front door when it rained heavily.
Stunning location and cottage. We loved watching the sky and beach changing. We did so much walking and you could just spend all your time in Port Eynon. The Smugglers Inn did some fantastic food and everyone was very friendly. Fish and chips shops were great and the small coffee shop by the surf clothes shop. We were very lucky with the weather and sat in the front garden with the beautiful beach to watch. A lot of wildlife and people watching very peaceful. We sat in the back garden when the sun moved. I did read previous reviews and so came prepared with toilet rolls wood etc. sadly the cleaning is not great but linen and towels were good. Two mugs and some plates are badly chipped and have been for a while looking back over reviews. Also two frying pans and the wok have lost some of the non stick surface. There is a gap in the fence which has some wood leaning on it but luckily my dog didn't escape. There was a lot of dogs poo in the garden which I had to pick up on arrival . The disposal of the rubbish is a bit inconvenient ....I followed instructions in the cottage book but the only bins I could find in the carpark were open general ones however they were emptied every day I was worried animals may pull out the domestic waste etc. Despite the remarks I have made I would definitely return summer or winter it's a little gem !

Just spent a lovely few days in salt cottage. Location is ideal for walking and exploring the area. Beautiful cottage, clean and welcoming. Had everything you need. We will definitely book to come again !
This is a wonderful cottage in a lovely location and we love coming here. We have booked again, as it makes us relax and unwind. Our dogs were in doggy heaven with the beach right on our doorstep. A true gem. I was however surprised to see on this occasion, that the maintenance issues raised by previous holiday makers had not been addressed and need to be resolved immediately, especially the toilet seat. I also reported it to the caretaker who didnt ring back and Sykes Cottages who said someone would attend, but hadnt done so in the week we were there. It would be a great shame if the property is not maintained well so we can all continue to enjoy this beautiful place.

Sweet cottage in a stunning location. Do read instructions for access and parking which are really helpful. Access is difficult either down steep uneven steps or a narrow overgrown path. We were disappointed that there was No welcome pack or basic provisions such as hand soap in bathroom. Advice on what to bring was really helpful as no useful shops nearby. Poorly maintained with large gap in fence to next door which given dog friendly is poor, windows difficult to open or shut , broken loo seat and leaking plug in bathroom sink which had been mentioned by previous guests , crockery chipped only 4 very large mugs provided. Owners ask no dogs upstairs but no stair gate or way to prevent that so we had to improvise with a deck chair. Wardrobe full of spare bedding so no where to put clothes. It IS a beautiful cottage in a stunning location right on the beach but it is a shame that it has not looked after.
Joanne
Wonderful cottage just a little disappointed about broken toilet seat, chips on some of the mugs, side gate to the rear of property broken so had to make a barrier out of broken garden plastic seats and the front sea defence plywood, plastic broken chairs could be replaced and the bathroom sink seal around the plug needs replacing as the water drains away when having a shave so had to keep the tap running also window hinges could do with some oil.
Deirdre
Lovely cottage fabulous location. Perfect escape for dog owners. Port Enyon very nice place food in The Ship is fantastic.
What a fantastic little cottage. Renovated to a very high degree. Towels and bedding first class. To be able to lay in bed and see the sea was a dream come true for me. The dogs loved the beach, but didnt venture into the sea. Would recommend this cottage for anyone who wanted a peaceful break.
I have never stayed in such a beautiful location and our first time in a cottage. To be that close to the sea was magical. The earliest we could book was October but we were so lucky with the weather although the lovely log fire was at the cottage had we needed it. Our dogs loved the beach and the back garden of the cottage was lovely and secure for them. The cottage was so adorable and had everything you could need, I cannot recommend staying here highly enough but hope it doesn't get so booked up there is no availability for us to visit again!! The Ship Inn and Smugglers Bar are both incredible. Thank you Sykes Cottages what an absolute gem!!! Vanessa Bayley, North Cerney, Gloucestershire.

The place is fantastic. The only drawback is the car has to be parked quite a way from the house. The only other thing was the bed was quite small. But it was very comfortable. Other than that, we had a wonderful time and loved the cottage and have recommended it to others.
We had an absolutely lovely and relaxing stay, and would stay again in the future! Nothing beats the location or the scenery. There are walks to be had in every direction. We were so happy the cottage accommodates dogs, as it was perfect for our swimming Labs. The neighbours were friendly and helpful. The neighbouring guests were delightful. It is a little tricky getting to the cottage at first but once you've navigated it, it's fine and the arrangement works. Do note there are a few steep steps on route, with an alternate path for those less amble. The cottage was well stocked. If I were going to nitpick I would say it would have been nice to have a bin liner and a bath matt in the bathroom. We really couldn't have wanted for anything else. Do give the pizza oven a try. We loved it! We cleaned it all out and had fantastic pizza and BBQ and it was a fun experience with views of the bay and the Super Blood & Blue Moon! Wish I could send photos of the pizzas.
Dont hesitate! Amazing location and cozy cottage everything you need available. Thank you
The cottage is lovely but the location is outstanding, not much beats it. Will be back!
What a findthe position of this cottage right on the beach is fantastic. .really wonderful and we will be back to enjoy it again. Only downside was the cleaning, which was not very good and lets the owners down and something they may wish to address, happy to discuss further if they wish, then everything would be just perfect.
Everything fine apart from finding when we arrived that coffee cafetire was cracked and tv controls battery didnt work. Cottage in a great spot!
Birgit
Lovely location. We enjoyed it.

The photographs don't do it justice. This is an amazing place to stay

Nice property with good amenities in addition to items listed there was ironing equipment, hair dryer. It arriving after dusk can be tricky to locate. Both Googlemaps and Waze pointed to different location. Directions on website ok but not clear. Following the signs to youth hostel through a shared private dirt road to youth hostel, mobile caravan park site and cottages would be a better description. The cottages are behind youth hostel and approachable only by a footpath running along the coast on side of the youth hostel.
A thoroughly relaxing stay in 1 Salt Cottage. Lovely accommodation as advertised. Wood burner brilliant and excellent quality of facilities down to the lovely crockery and quiet details. The location is stunning and perfect if you wish to get away from it all right on the beach. Wonderful. Thank you.
We had a lovely time and the location is perfect. The bed was really comfortable and all the facilities were very good. On the first day we had no heating and we had to wait a day for somebody to come out and fix it, other than that we had a great time and the view was to die for Would stay again
A gorgeous cottage with stunning views we saw seals in the bay, watched the sun rise and even a clear moon rise! Easy for exploring the gower area, highlights were Worms Head, Three Cliffs Bay and King Arthur Hotel for food.
Pamela
The only problem I had was the microwave . . Ive had several but could not get it to work and despite instructions pile .. the one for the microwave was missing. I finally found a neighbour who eventually solved it and even she had a problem. Frustrating. Otherwise it was perfect
Gillian
A fabulous little cottage and exactly as I imagined it from the online pictures. A big bonus having a safe back garden if you are taking a dog. Everything very comfortable especially the bed! Just two niggles I would like to have known that toilet paper wasnt supplied and the lock handle hadnt been replaced on the bathroom door. Would definitely go back again Gill
Deborah
Fantastic 'to die for' location speaks for itself, wake up in the morning and sea is right there. WiFi was fine but no phone signal at all until we were well away from the bay Just incase someone needs to rely on phone, wasn't a problem for us. Everything you could need is in cottage. As other comment says, comfy chairs for outside would of been good but understand that could be difficult during times of bad weather and storage. Only issue we had was cottagebedtowels hadn't been cleaned before our arrival, due to an 'admin problem', owner couldn't have been more apologetic and was cleaned next day we hadn't arrived until late in evening, though sadly the promise of a refund of a night's stay still hasn't materialised!!
We loved this gorgeous cottage! Wonderful beachfront location, it was just what we needed to really relax and unwind, very peaceful and scenic. The cottage is perfect for 2, very tastefully decorated and furnished with everything you need. Loved the bedroom, especially being able to lie in bed watching and listening to the waves. Lots of lovely walks on the dog friendly beach! Only things that would enhance it a little more are if there were sun loungers provided couldnt find a washing line or clothes airer no parking permit was left for us. owner sorted this quickly rear garden was not totally dog proof Overall a wonderful place that we will definitely be returning to!
The steps down from the camp field to to cottage should have been mentioned as tricky when wet. Your failure to advise the change of key code when you had been told twice by the owner of the change
