Gower at The Headlands Reviews

Bethan
This is the third Christmas weve stayed here. Perfect for our extended family with great location. Easy to walk to local shops or round to nearest beaches. Parking is not easy but we were usually successful with finding spots for everyone.
Anthony
We had a lovely stay, accommodation was very comfortable and in a prime location, all three bedrooms had a sea view. All bedrooms had tvs, but the TV in the top floor didn't appear to work so our only criticism really is that although we rang the owner to report this and he said he would come and take a look at it that same afternoon but unfortunately he didn't turn up nor did he let us know.
One of the best properties I have ever stayed in, so close to every thing The Mumbles has to offer ,the dog settled quickly, and really appreciated all the dog friendly restaurants and pubs in the area which made life a lot easier . The house itself was beautiful , I didnt want to come home , the kitchen was so well equipped they had thought of every small detail, the house was made to feel really homely with pictures and mirrors ,the bathrooms were spotless ,and the beds really comfy,I am a wheelchair user and knew I was going to have a struggle with the stairs but was willing to struggle because the house was just what I wanted.A sofa bed downstairs would be a good idea as you already have the bathroom downstairs ,if you could sort the possibility of over occupancy . All in all a wonderful stay in a wonderful house if my health allows well be back.
An absolute gem of a holiday property. Extremely spacious with beautiful furnishings and everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. Excellent location. Would not hesitate to recommend and would love to return one day.
We had a fantastic week here. The location was perfect and we miss waking up to the sea view. We will definitely book again
This is a lovely property with everything one needs for a pleasant stay. The showers are clean and the rooms spacious. We loved being so close to the promenade, playground, shops, beach and all attractions. We were most grateful for the owners patience when our son left with the back gate key, and then found it difficult to send it back as it was a bank holiday weekend all sorted now. We did find the bed in the second bedroom on the first floor to be very small for two people.
Claire
What a great house with excellent facilites and a fantastic location.
Gillian
I went to have a 75th birthday holiday with my immediate family. The accommodation was superb. Our initial reaction on opening the door was wow. It was really well equipped, and the views were amazing. The triple aspect family bedroom was perfect for my son, wife and child. The other bedrooms were also perfect for the rest of us. Every bedroom had a sea view. The use of a parking space for one car was very useful too. The location could not have been bettered. Literally, less than a minute to the promenade, a couple of minutes to the shopping centre and walking distance to all that The Mumbles had to offer. Thank you for a fantastic holiday.
Rebecca
Great property lovely location right next to the promenade, great to have a parking space especially in the Mumbles although it was very narrow especially when neighbours dont park well! ! They even sent back some clothes my son forgot to pack. Would recommend.
Alison
The house is just a very short walk from the promenade, which is just round the corner. Work was continuing on the sea wall but we werent disturbed by it at all. The parking space is adequate, but occasionally poor parking by other house owners made it a little tricky. A thank you to the owner who very quickly sorted out the problem we had with the toaster, a new one arrived a couple of days later. The house was well equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen. A second large freezer is situated in the utility area, recessed on the left as you enter. The door is quite heavy and a little stiff. The beds were comfortable with lovely linen and we slept well. Lovely soft towels are provided, together with shower products. We didnt find the cream sofa or chairs particularly comfortable in the lounge but the firmer blue sofa was fine. We were unable to find the pink sack for recycling rubbish anywhere, so took what we could around the corner to the council bins on the prom. The bin men on Thursday morning arrived at 6.45am to remove any general rubbish, so it needs to be put outside earlier. There were no dishwasher tablets supplied despite it stating there were in the welcome book. The tumble drier and washing machine should be checked for cleanliness at each change over, the tumble drier was full of fluff and the soap drawer in the machine needed a clean before I could use them, both worked efficiently and the drying rack was very useful. On stripping the bed in the blue bedroom on the first floor, I found a stain on the duvet. The owner may like to consider replacing the net curtain in the lounge area, which had some holes and ladders. The white grab rail in the first floor shower was rusty. Despite a few niggles we really enjoyed our stay at The Headlands and would love to come back again in the future. We enjoyed lunch out at Verdis on a couple of occasions. And a well needed cuppa at the local pub at Worms Head was much appreciated after a good walk. Clyne Gardens were lovely to wander round. We were able to explore most of the Gower and enjoy the spectacular views and plenty of good walks.
Nicola
We had the best week in The Headlands. The house was beautifully clean and very well equipped. Good quality bedding and very comfortable beds. We loved the kitchen, very good to cook in. Very light and spacious open plan. Great position in Mumbles which is a lovely small town. Parking a bit tight but we managed to squeeze two vehicles in the space without going out of the designated area. Parking in car parks quite expensive. We couldnt find the pink bag to put the recycling in, looked everywhere, so we took the recycling home. Great meal out in Mor restaurant. Would definitely book The Headlands again, we loved it.
Jennifer
This is a really lovely property in a great location. It is a stone's throw from the promenade and has sea views from two of the bedrooms. It was clean and well equipped although we didn't cook here, so I can't comment on the kitchen equipment. There is parking for one car that was easily accessed round the back of the property. However it is only one parking space so additional cars would have to be parked elsewhere there is plenty of public parking in mumbles but this can be in high demand in summer. Please note, if you are visiting here with children, there's no dvd player or DVDsgamespuzzles provided but there are plenty of TVs so you will need to bring your own games and puzzles. This holiday home is beautifully located in Mumbles, with great access to the promenade walk, the shops and plenty of eateries, including dog friendly establishments. And the property itself is comfortable and beautifully decorated. I would highly recommend it and we hope to be back next year. Thank you to the owners for a wonderful stay and for the lovely welcome pack that was such a nice touch and made us feel very welcome.
Michael
Amazing position on the seafront with parking and the property was so ... Amazing position on the seafront with parking and the property was so comfortable and had everything you needed for a, super stay in mumbles
Kathryn
Just back from a week at The Headland. The weather wasn't kind as we had rain at some point every day. It meant having a comfortable base to chill really came into its own. The location is excellent with everything you could need within walking distance. From the main bedroom you can see the sea and the start of the local shops an ice cream from Joe's is a must. There is a row of restaurants on the promenade, 5 minutes from the house. They are dog friendly. We ate at The Oysrer House, Croeso Lounge and Bistrot Pierre. Our personal favourite was the Croeso Lounge for lunch and dinner. I was disappointed to find the pier is closed but our dog loved the little beach there. It is also not possible to access the beach anywhere near the house as they are working on sea defences. There is a great deal of work and work men close to the house but as we were out all day it was not a problem. Just a shame the beach is out of bounds as all the beaches close by ban dogs until 30th September. I would recommend walking up to Oystermouth Castle where the volunteers are very welcoming. If you have a dog Mumbles Nature Reserve is also worth a visit. I was very impressed with the number and range of shops in Mumbles. I wish we had a flourishing High Street with so much to offer. The Headlands is a well appointed, comfortable base to explore the Gower and I would highly recommend it for couples, families and dogs!
Ideal situation interior had everything needed showers beautiful only slight criticism exterior shabby.
Catherine
Perfect location and accommodation from which the whole family five adults were able to celebrate our sons graduation at Swansea University. The property was as described and met all our needs and the nearby restaurants and shops meant that everything was in walking distance.
Lorraine
Our family stayed at The Headlands in order to attend a special Birthday Party in Mumbles. Our party included a 2 year old toddler and a welll behaved dog. The Headlands is an absolutely beautiful house. It gives everything a family needs. Beautifully appointed, spacious, comfortable and relaxing. In addition its location is central to all facilities in the lovely village of Mumbles. Once you park the car, it really isn't needed until sadly the time comes to leave. We came for a family party and left feeling like we had a holiday. Thank you so much to the owners and their team.
A fantastic property in a great location. We could not fault anything.
We loved our stay at the headlands. It is really comfortable and so nice and close to restaurants and the prom. We had a great time Thankyou.
Rebecca
There were no small tumbler glasses for juice with breakfast, would be helpful but obviously not crucial! Great property everything worked well, location was brilliant. Beds super comfortable. We had a amazing family weekend thank you
Excellent property as described, great location. Parking instruction a little difficult to follow. Used to visit daughter in the University and represented excellent alternative to hotel. Walk to Langland is worth trying. Good shops including an M & S. Croeso Lounge very accommodating and good value dog friendly also. Coffee at No 26 also worth a visit. Will definitely hope to return later in year.
Bethan
Super location and lovely views. Managed to get a Christmas dinner for 8 cooked in the well equipped kitchen with ease. Good selection of crockery, glasses and cutlery so we were well served. Highly recommended.
Michael
The house is very comfortable and well equipped. Its very conveniently located in the heart of Mumbles. I dont actually think that the photographs fully do it justice. Mumbles has improved since we were last there and seems to be developing into a very nice small resort. A minor negative the there two decent bathrooms, but you should be aware that they are not ensuite.
This is a lovely property, beautifully and comfortably furnished and well equipped. The kitchen is particularly well equipped with high quality utensils and good cooking facilities. It is a great location, very close to the sea, every bedroom has a sea view, and a only a minute or so from local shops and restaurants. We had a very lovely week long stay and would be happy to return again.
Michael
Fantastic property, very well presented to a high standard. Very comfortable, loads of space, all the facilities and support you could need for a real home from home.plenty of cutlery and crockery, and just enough personal touches to the decor to give the house some personality. Extremely well located, in easy striking distance of Swansea and also the delights of the Gower generally. Good public transport, we found the buses very reliable, and plenty of walking routes also.
Lindsey
We had a brilliant stay at the Headlands. The location is perfect and the house itself very comfortable and well equipped, with good quality bed linen and everything you need in the kitchen to cook properly. Very impressed that there was a blender, cafetiere and even a slow cooker. Good quality Fairy dishwasher capsules also provided and washing machine capsules too although we did take our own Ariel. The house was very warm I had to turn some radiators off and there were two thermostats, which was a bit confusing! Swansea council are big on recycling but the info folder includes details on what to do and when to put the bags out. Plenty of good restaurants, takeaways and pubs in the area and really handy for visits to the Gower. Only downside to the location is that there is a major project going on to preserve the promenade, but there is still room for walking watch out for the cyclists who can get a bit stroppy if you or your dog accidentally stray into the cycle lane! We will definitely return for another visit when visiting our relatives again highly recommend!
Superb location excellent facilities modern, wideranging all aspects considered. The boiler was reluctant to work, but the owner was on hand, and they will obviously rectify the problem.
Michael
Great location and lovely house which we highly likely book again for the family. One issue is that we had to top up boiler each morning
A lovely house, good facilities and space for 6 adults. If you have more than one car be prepared to walk a bit as parking is limited nearby. Wasn't a problem but could be a five minute walk away. We loved being by the sea and promenade...lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Recommend Mum Bales for beer!
y-jane
Perfect location, lovely home from home house, throughly enjoyed our stay! We have stayed in a few places in the Mumbles but this was by far the best. Conveniently located within walking distance of all the Mumbles has to offer and then short drive to explore the local beaches and Gower. Added bonus of parking. Highly recommend.
The sofas were very soft with no back support. Other than that, the house was brilliant!
Michelle
An amazing location and the property is beautiful. We had a fantastic week. The only feedback would be to give a better explanation of the rubbish bin situation. As it was completely different to our city we were a little lost, this resulted in our rubbish being left by the roadside. We hadnt realised we needed the strong bags so only put out the plastic bags Lovely area and beautiful home.
Great location for beach lovers. Limited outdoor space and problematic parking have to reverse down the back lane off the main road, but otherwise very comfortable with excellent facilities.
Charlotte
We had a lovely stay, the house is wonderful and the photos dont do it justice. Great location, we will definitely return!
Adrian
If you are looking for a home away from home located close to stunning coastline, then this is the place for you. The Mumbles also have some great bars and restaurants .
We had the most wonderful break over new year at The Headlands, it was absolutely perfect for 5 adults, a toddler and a dog! Perfect location, spacious, clean and fully equipped it was exactly what we needed! Cant recommend this beautiful house enough, we will definitely be back! My two year old especially was in love with her seaside house
Joanne
We've just had a wonderful stay the headlands. The property is in a prime location for shops and restaurants and also the beachcoast path. The house is very well equipped and tastefully decorated with good quality items with a very comprehensive information folder which we found very useful. It was beautifully clean and fresh looking when we arrived with some thoughtful items in a welcome basket. If you don't know the Mumbles it's great for accessing the rest of the Gower, we loved the beaches ! We'd love to stay again !
Lovely place, with everything needed to have a stay. Would be great if one room could be converted to an ensuite.
