Derry Ormond Old Station Reviews

Susan
A lovely get away ... brilliant building we.loved it .everything you need ....Will.book again
Michelle
Wow what an amazing place. The owner has done a very good job with the restoration of this place. Great communication with the owner before and during our holiday. The Old Station had everything you needed even a washing machine. If you want a relaxing holiday away from everything this is the place to come. Lovely walks in the woods nearby. The only negative is you need to drive to go anywhere as bus at the end of lane is not very regular and no pub or shop in walking distance. You can see that the owner has put a lot of thought into the old station with things like the design of the blinds at the windows. Anyone staying here into their trains will love these little touches and the history about the building. It does get cold in the evening but once you light the fire it is lovely and cosy inside. We had a great time here relaxing in the garden with just the sound of birds and sheep nearby.
Alice
A fabulous hidden gem.
Claudiu
A perfect place for a quiet stay, with everything that you need, plenty of space in the garden, very good communication with the owner!
Claire
A lovely getaway location for two. All of the vintage touches made the stay very special. Very easy to use EV charger.
Layla
Charming accommodation in a peaceful setting. The space space is cosy and full of character which made the stay feel special. The spot is is quiet and tucked away, but within an easy drive of all facilities. The EV charging was easy to use and made it so easy with a hybrid vehicle. Good location, easy drive to the beach and lots to do near by. Would stay again.
Nicky
We had a wonderful long weekend in Derry Ormond Station. We loved everything about it and we hope to return. Sonia was a fantastic host!
Isabel
Anyone looking for an exceptional, picturesque, and somewhat unusual accommodation is in good hands here. The owner explained everything perfectly and offered many tips for activities.
David
Old railway station very well restored from a near ruin, with delightful retro touches inside. Thoughtfully set out and makes best use of space available (there is even a slimline dishwasher) and it doesn't feel cramped, bearing in mind it is a small property. Ideal getaway for a couple in a very peaceful location. Plenty of outside area to enjoy, with seats, picnic table and firepit. Great communication from the owner. Thoroughly recommend.
Richard
Really enjoyed our stay, so peaceful with just the sounds of the birds and sheep. Have made an excellent job of restoring station, especially after I saw video online of the station in 2020. Period furniture adds to the authenticity and has everything you need to make it home from home. Lots of nice places nearby to visit.
Jim
Amazing cottage in a beautiful location. True to it's heritage with modern luxuries. Thoughtfully and tastefully renovated - it's obvious some real care and attention went into it. Excellent for a romantic weekend away. There's something very nice about only having cows and sheep as neighbours! Excellent value for money and exceptionally clean throughout. Would definitely visit again.
John
If you fancy a step back in time, but with all modern amenities, this delightful and peaceful location is well worth considering.
Paul
It's a magnificently restored station with lots of railway touches inside. Very cosy and atmospheric. Ideally situated for both Vale of Rheidol and Gwili railways as well as the Dolaucothi gold mine (National Trust). Lovely welcome basket on arrival and the owner is willing to help with ideas for walks or excursions.
Geoff
We had a lovely stay over the Easter weekend in this quite unique property. It's located in a rural location and we woke up every morning to the sound of birds chirping! This beautifully restored former railway station also has an EV Charger which makes travelling to the cottage and exploring the surrounding countryside in a EV car very possible.
Amanda
Superb location and wonderful conversion of the original railway station. A great deal of care and attention has been put into the renovation/conversion and there were so many lovely touches that made the place feel very authentic. It was an extremely cosy and comfortable place to stay with stunning scenery on our doorstep, the wifi was also very fast and reliable and completely unexpected. We would definitely recommend staying here for a relaxing and comfortable stay with so much to do in the area.
Ben
Such an idyllic location in the Welsh country side, the cottage is incredibly cosy and so warm with the log burner.
Kayles
We were delighted with the 3 night stay at Derry Ormond during November 2024. The detail that had gone into this renovation was expertly carried out with finesse and incredible style. The log burner was a special treat for us so that tipped this stay over to the luxury side. If you enjoy peace and tranquility with abit of history in the mix then this will tick all the boxes for you. We created fond memories during our stay which will last beyond our lifetime. Thank-you Sonia it was a blast!
Nick
This is delightful and cosy place to stay - and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The cottage has been sensitively and beautifully renovated to a high standard with lovely touches to remind you of its railway past. The owner was helpful in recommending local places to visit, eat and shop - and there was clear communication throughout our stay. Thoroughly recommended.
Rik
Cosy and charming, Derry Ormond Halt has been lovingly and effectively restored with an appreciative regard for its railway history. It is a well-equipped and comfortable place to stay with some enjoyably quirky features. Pre-arrival communication with the owner was very helpful, as was her gracious and informative welcome. We've already recommended it to friends and would certainly stay there again.
Neil
Great quirky cottage. Will be great in winter with log fire burning. Lampeter nice enough but limited on food. Lovely surrounding countryside
