Dolwylan Cottage Reviews

Rebecca
Such an incredible and peaceful location. There is a sense of timelessness visiting this property and this valley. The beds are super comfortable, I love the decor, everything was clean and welcoming and incredibly inviting. We switched off for the week and really enjoyed the nature around us. Springtime very much in the air. I can't recommend this place enough.
Debbie
Wonderful cottage great location. Spent Christmas week there which was ideal. Great walks from the door. Nice and quiet. Loved it there. Cleaning let it down a bit and being picky it would not take much to dog proof the property
Selina
Dolwylan is a cosy home away from home, with wonderful views down to the cove. The cove itself is stunning and only a short stroll down the hill. Yes there is a caravan park opposite, down over the gardens in a bit of a valley, it isn't large and we heard no noise whilst we were there. There is a cottage next door but it doesn't overlook Dolwylan. The cleanliness did let it down and I have raised this with the owner, who told me new cleaners have now been instructed, so hopefully cleanliness will improve going forward. All in all a lovely, peaceful, restful week.
The location was fantastic and we managed to capture some fantastic sunsets. We also enjoyed plenty of stargazing nights, with beautiful clear skies. We spotted baby seals on the nearby beach and the walks were fantastic. However, personally what let it down was the cleanliness. The property is old so we knew there would be expected wear but the sideboard where the plates, cutlery and glasses were kept was covered in dust. I literally took everything off and washed thoroughly before doing anything. There was cobwebs on the shelf above the sink and along pictures. The rug on the dining room floor was dirty so we didnt want to take our shoes or socks off maybe not worth having in a holiday rental with high footfall all the time. I was cleaning cupboards as it looked like it hadnt been done for a while and do need a bit of TLC. There was a cupboard which said private property which wasnt locked so my daughter opened, it was full of cobwebs on the ceiling along with spare towels and bedding. Generally the cottage just needs a bit of TLC to bring back its unique and beautiful character. Also the beds were very comfy and my husband wants to buy the same mattress. Despite of all this we would stay again as we love the area and the views were just magical.

Property isnt isolate There is a caravan park that is just at the end of the garden only a little field in between. There is a barn right next door which is hired out, garden isnt blocked off so if you have pets you cant leave them unattended in the garden incase they enter the other property or escape advert is very misleading there was no mention of the other property, the caravan park or the open garden. If we knew this we wouldnt have booked as we requested isolation. Property wasnt cleaned and beds and towels werent changed when we arrived after a 6 hour journey we were asked to go out and come back in a hours time and everything would be rectified. We came back and nothing had been done. We again had no luck with customer service but the owner stated it was unacceptable and would be sorted asap after 15 minutes 3 peoples arrived to do a quick clean and change beds etc. Other than that property was comfortable and view is wonderful very relaxing. No near by shops or restaurants Londis is a 15minute drive. Walking paths are great. All in all holiday was ok, we came to celebrate my 40th birthday wasnt a great start and disappointed with misleading advert. You are defintely paying for the view we have stayed at better properties and paid much less.

We had a great weeks holiday, took full advantage of all west wales has to offer. Golf at the local picturesque course, sauna and pizza in llangranog. Fun day in New Quay, the fishing trip was brilliant. The cottage was very well equipped, which made cooking a pleasure. The evening sundowner overlooking the sea was the best part of the day, in the beautiful, peaceful valley followed by alfresco dining. A truly restful holiday.
Sharon
Absolutely stunning cottage and amazing location. Would highly recommend. The sea views and close proximity to the cove was great. The sunsets were fantastic. Near to New Quay for shops and food. Saw seals in the cove and dolphins at New Quay.
Richard
We found a lot of thought has gone into making sure that every detail has been considered. Our only recommendations would be for more and larger mugs we are big tea drinkers! . We loved our stay very tranquil. We also managed to collect lots of sea glass on Cwmtydu beach!
An absolutley wonderful week
What an incredible place. It was truly wonderful and had everything we wanted from our remote getaway. The house is just stunning in the perfect remote location. It is full of character, homely details, and we enjoyed in particular the electric range of CDs, from 90s garage to classical. I think it was one of the most wonderful places I have ever stayed at and can't wait to come again sometime in the future. 1010 you have a very special house
Lovely Cottage with all needs covered in a beautiful location
Brilliant place. Perfect setting. Gorgeous house. Had everything we needed.
Alison
Thank you . We loved being at the cottage . I could sit on the patio and watch the changing sea colours all day . Peaceful and secluded . Simple and beautiful styling inside of cottage too.
Stephen
A lovely cosy cottage that we didn't want to leave,it was the right place for a nice relaxing holiday
Philip
When we arrived the freezer was completely frosted over. There is no handrail on the stairs and as the toilet is downstairs It was awkward as I go several times in the night. I found it difficult to light the open fire as no kindling was provided, only firefighters which took several attempts. There is no information as to where the fuse box is so when the light when out there was a problem. I phoned the emergency number but could not speak to anyone but had to use the ap which was difficult
Sophia
This summer was our 2nd visit to Dolwylan. We wouldnt be surprised to see the cottage & barn soon in the Sunday Times travel section as a hidden gem of Wales ! We 100 will be returning soon !!

Such a beautiful home with a beautiful beach within a 5 min walk. We loved our stay here, the view was beautiful, it was very peaceful, the log fire was a special touch too. We felt very at home, cosy and safe. Other beaches, villages and attractions within a short drive too. There is a caravan park close to the property which the photos hide, and at the end of the driveway there is another rental property. One improvement for us as dog onwers would be for the access between the two properties to be gatedfenced maybe? We had to be really on top of stopping the dogs wandering to next doors garden as they also had a dog maybe something about garden not been enclosed could be added to description. Either way, I'd love to visit again! Beautiful. Thankyou
Nicole
Delightful cottage, great care has been taken with everything. Very clean and comfortable. Location perfect. Tons to do. Peaceful and lovely to be so close to nature and experience the elements 1010.
We loved Dolwylan. The decor was well judged and the house very well appointed every time we wondered I wonder if theres a sure enough there it was. The area was wonderful and our girls loved the pebbly beach. The caravan park nearby busy when we were there was a little unexpected and isnt represented in the clever photography of the property. However, we had a lovely time and adored the house and its setting.
Sophia
Such a beautiful cottage. Amazing sea views, from the terrace. A great location for alfresco dinning. The interior design was perfect. Such thoughtful details. The sheep were an added bonus! Lovely to know the barn is so close, would be easy to rent both properties at once for larger groups. Great location for all the local beaches and walks.
Hello We had a lovely time at Dolwylan Cottage. Perfectly happy with our stay. If are your looking for issues to improve the outdoor chairs look a bit old and not too sturdy. Also the rubbish arrangements were clear enough but we only found the one official council bin bag for the recycling. Once we'd put it out for collection on Wednesday we needed to buy our own for the remainder of the week. Do the council only supply collect 1 bag per week ? Thanks, Dave.
Lovely cottage and quiet location. Really enjoyed our stay.
