Ty Barcud Reviews

The stay was excellent our 2 dogs loved the free run of the field. The place was clean and well looked after, the hosts very helpful. As the place is very isolated makes it very quiet and peaceful just what we needed we will definitely be back for another stay.
A lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. The cottage has everything you need, was very clean, with comfortable sofas and beds. Our dog loved the field, which is fully fenced with short grass, although Id recommend wellies especially for the morning run. Penny and Digby are great hosts, ready to help and chat, but allowing privacy as well. Its within easy reach of the coast as well as some national trust and nature reserves. Dont expect superfast internet connection, the WiFi is okay and fast enough for most things it wasnt an issue for us. We spent a couple of days at the cottage without going out and didnt feel as if wed missed out we just relaxed, read a book and watched the birds in the garden, it was the quiet time we needed. We had a Tesco delivery when we arrived as the nearest supermarket is in Lampeter, it was easy to plan for the week as the cottage has a full size freezer. Would definitely recommend!
We had a great stay. The owners Digby and Penny were super couldn't have been more helpful. This is just the job for getting away from it all with all mod cons you could wish for. For dog lovers like us , the two mown fields are great for off the lead walks. Altogether a 100 super stay. Thank you. Peter and Katy
We had a wonderful family break at Ty Barcud. Myself and three young adult children. The location and setting are lovely , the facilities in the cottage excellent. Penny and Digby were very friendly and helpful hosts, Penny even came to find me when I had difficulty locating the cottage.

We have enjoyed a wonderful week stay at Ty Barcud with our 2 dogs Honey and Tilly, the hosts Penny and Digby greeted us on arrival they were very helpful if you needed anything they are knowledgeable about local area. A lovely welcome pack on arriving with home cooked muffins even treats for the dogs. The cottage itself is probably the best we have stayed in it has everything that you need it was immaculately clean throughout. The enclosed rear garden was ideal for our 2 dogs also the 2 paddocks with an additional enclosed picnic area all with wonderful views of the Welsh countryside. It was so peaceful and quiet just listening to the birds in the garden on the bird feeders which Penny gave us more fat balls to top up. We had a full week visiting various places around West Wales from Dolphin watching on a boat out of New Quay to National trusts house It is really a beautiful area to visit we would certainly be coming back. Karen & Barrie Honey Sheltie Tilly Parti Poodle .
We absolutely loved our stay at Ty Barcud. From the moment we arrived after getting lost Digby and Penny were brilliant, even coming to find us and escorting us in. The grounds are amazing and both dogs loved the fields to roam in. Everything was spotless. The garden was lovely and watching the many birds was relaxing. The scones that Penny shared with us were delicious. Just a shame it seemed to fly by,
Its unusual that the place that you stay at is as much of a holiday as the surrounding areas that you visit. Rather than the accommodation being just a base to venture out from it is as much a destination to relax and unwind. Location is ideal to be able to explore many beauty spots and enjoy the Welsh coast. Our dogs have had as much if a holiday as we have due to the amazing hospitality of Penny and Digby, allowing the use of their fields and beautiful gardens. The cottage was immaculately clean and the private garden a haven to sit and watch the variety of wildlife whilst also being safely enclosed for the dogs. I cannot recommend this enough. We will definitely be booking again and again.
Lovely cottage, clean & well equipped. Beautiful location & grounds are fantastic even without dogs it's great to be able to have loads of space to wander around & views are amazing. It is very secluded major bonus point for us & there are narrow country lanes so practise your reversing skills. Would go back again.
The property was superb. Very clean and inviting and one of the best we have ever stayed in. Comfy seats and great beds, cosy, warm with all amenities that were in great condition and worked well excellent. The Garden had a lot of bird visitors that was a pleasure to watch. The Hosts, penny ns Digby, were an absolute pleasure to meet and one of the nicest, friendliest coules we have had the pleasure of meeting. Helpful, on call but not intrusive perfect. Highly recommend this place you wont be disappointed!
Beverley

Jillian
We have enjoyed a lovely week, the hosts Penny and Digby were exceptionally nice and so helpful. We thought it looked nice on the Sykes listing but it surpassed all expectations , a lovely barn and beautifully neat grounds and well fenced fields for our dog , a lovely base to explored further afield in mid Wales.
We had a great time at Ty Barcud and would recommend it to anyone. Digby and Penny the owners are very welcoming and are on hand should you need them. The cottage was clean and tidy and has everything you need for a great holiday. Ideal for anyone with a dog our two loved their walks in the paddock and around the bottom field.
Stayed early September. The property was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The grounds were immaculate. A lovely enclosed garden for ourselves and the dog. The owners were lovely, close at hand to deal with any issues we had and very quick to put things right. We arrived late in the dark and the outside lights had attracted a fair few hornets who got into the house. They came immediately to get rid of them, even though they had been asleep when we messaged them! Would highly recommended, despite everything the Welsh weather threw at us whilst we were there and we got thrown a lot, rain, wind. Only thing we didnt get was snow!
Phillippa
Ty Barcud was an absolutely perfect stay for us. Everything we needed in the cottage, a great enclosed garden for the dogs to play in and then the wonderful enclosed fields for them to walk and play in too. Penny and Digby are superb hosts and a great source of local places to visit as well as providing us with lovely home grown tomatoes and homemade shortbread. We will definitely be returning to this rural idyll.
Dog and Dog lovers paradise. Clean cosy cottage with everything we needed and more. Beautifully kept grounds with direct access to private garden and fields to walk in. Superb panoramic views. Peaceful location where you can exhale and relax. Hosts welcoming and friendly treated us like valued friends rather than just guests. The home baked treats were delicious. Already returned for a second visit and would happily move in !
Super hosts, lovely cottage with a pretty garden full of birds. Absolute bonus is the beautiful enclosed land for the dogs to exercise on. Loved it!
This is our 2nd year at Ty Barcud cottage and we had a excellent break. The cottage as like last year was so clean and tidy with everything you need inside. Our 2 dogs Dave and Larry just loved the field we spent hours in that field. It is just so peaceful and quiet where you can slow down and relax. Penny and Digby are great and on hand if you need anything. If any of you can remember the Smurfs, look out for them they just seem to pop up around the grounds. We look forward to going back next year. Tony , Helen , Charlotte ,
Excellent place to stay , peacefull , lots of wildlife , lovely cottage , with lovely hosts , would highly recommend
Penny and Digby truly fabulous hosts. Would definitely recommend this idyllic getaway, we've been twice now, it never fails to deliver, Many thanks x
What a fantastic cottage. Great location for exploring this part of Wales and near enough to the drive to the costal villages and path. Wonderful hosts who looked after everything we required. Perfect break.
Alison
Beautifully quiet, garden safe, considerate hosts. We found everything as on the photos and well equipped good pans and plenty of equipment. Good layout and information from Digby and Penny particularly gems like Watson and Pratt were fantastic. Little things like a boot jack at the door make all the difference.
We had another wonderful stay at the cottage which is so comfortable and inviting. Digby and Penny always make it such a pleasurable stay that we can't wait to book up another visit. The cottages, whether it is the smaller 2 bedroomed cottage or the larger 3 bedroomed cottage are spotlessly clean. There is everything you need. The furniture equipment, beds and bedding, towels etc are to a high standard. Digby and Penny are so friendly and approachable and helpful on every way. We would highly recommend a visit. You most certainly won't be disappointed.
Stephen
We loved our time here. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped, the ownersDigby and Penny..were friendly and helpful and the surroundings were spectacular even though it was November and the weather a little wet. Loved the cranberry cookies!
The property was amazing, it met all our needs from inside and out. so much so that we have already booked for next year. The property is presented very well with a high level of cleanliness and order. Penny and Digby were very pleasant and helpful and made us very welcome, Penny even cooked us home made cookies!!! The facilities for the dogs were amazing our 2 little pooches returned home very tired from the huge field that they could run in amazing !!!
Samantha
We have just spent a week at Ty Barcud. Fantastic holiday cottage, very clean and comfortable and a very nice little welcome pack. Has everything you need, felt like being at home. Very peaceful and quiet. Great area of 2 fields for taking our dog Bronson for a quick walk before heading out for the day. The owners Penny and Digby are a really lovely couple, gave us lots of information on where to go. Nothing was too much trouble for them, even being able to supply a bottle of wine on our last night which I had forgotten to pick up. We would highly recommend this beautiful this cottage.
Samantha
My sister and I and our 2 dogs have just spent a fab week in this cottage, it had everything we needed. Its in a very quiet country location, just the sound of birds and sheep. The hosts Digby and Penny are lovely, gave us lots of ideas of what to do and where to go. Penny made cookies which were delicious and they gave us home grown tomatoes. There was also a very nice welcome pack of goodies when we arrived. We would definitely recommend this holiday cottage..so much so that my hubby and I are going back in October
We had the pleasure of staying in Ty Barcud for a week in September. The property is very well equipped and immaculate. There are even books and games for those not so nice days. The whole site is very well cared for by the owners, Penny and Digby. Who are a lovely couple who do everything they can to make your stay as special as they can. When you arrive there is a lovely welcome pack with even treats for your dog. Plenty of information leaflets and if you want to know more about the area they will help with more local knowledge. This is by far one of the best cottages you could wish to stay in. If you have a dog the enclosed field is a definite added bonus. We had the worse weather of the summer but the cottage was so lovely with a log burning fire we could still enjoy our stay. Will definitely be back.
Richard
This is a lovely cottage situated in a quiet picturesque location. We were welcomed by Digby and Penny on arrival and who helped us feel at home from the start. It is very dog friendly with a nice private secure garden straight out the back door, plus two fenced paddocks for running and play. The accommodation felt very clean and had everything we needed including a cosy wood burner. Penny and Digby were lovely hosts and really helpful. This will certainly be our first choice should we return to the area. Thank you, Rick, Helen, Katrina and Whisper
The cottage was excellent we found no faults at all. If you like rural peace and quiet then you need to stay here. Our 2 border collies had a great time in the field. Our hosts Penny and Digby were great and on hand if you had any issues. We highly recommend this cottage.
We stayed for a week with both our dogs. Everything was fantastic and will definitely book again. Highly recommend this cottage.
Virginia
Fabulous cottage, so clean comfortable and well equipped. A cottage but with modern facilities. Lovely comfortable beds, the garden so peaceful and pretty with an abundance of birds visiting the feeder, so nice to sit in the morning sun with just birdsong to listen to. The field just across the drive is great to let the dog off for a good old mooch around, the views of the hills lovely from here. Penny and Digby are a very nice friendly couple, available but not intrusive. We ate out in Lampeter, a town a 10 minute drive away, would highly recommend The Black Lion a very nice reasonably priced pub with parking at the back. The Elan Valley a great place for walks or you can drive up to see the dams, very impressive! Just head to the visitor centre, info available there. We had a wonderful holiday in a wonderful cottage, would definitely recommend.
If I could give an even better rating, I would. The cottage and the grounds are just about perfect, for both humans and dogs safe, comfortable, and with a million little details that are there to delight you. The hosts Penny and Digby with Peca and Polly are wonderful both present and discreet, with a natural passion for hospitality. I am looking forward to going back at some point.
Jackie
